TrackMaker

TrackMaker is software that lets you depict children's behaviour in terms of choices and consequences. This makes it easy for them to see how one behaviour leads to another and lets you identify points at which they could use alternatives. The three TrackMaker titles use pictures specifically made for working with behavioural difficulties at primary and secondary school and in home life. The software is for use on PC/laptop and the license is whole-site so you can install the software on as many PCs/laptops you want across the school

Visual Learning    The TrackMaker™ appeals to children who have a strength with visual learning. The printed product can be kept as a permanent reference (unlike many verbal instructions!).

Social understanding    If the child has behavioural difficulties because they don't understand what is expected of them the script helps to model behaviours.

Motivation    TrackMaker™ enables you to break down behaviour into small steps - increasing the chance of success. It moves a child away from rewards for vague behaviours (being good or being bad) and shows them exactly what they need to do to access rewards.

Coping skills    The TrackMaker™ can illustrate the use of coping strategies so that youngsters can learn to take steps to take control of events which currently may become out of control. Using a track, can in itself, be a coping strategy.

Effective Learning    Easy to build on forward and backward chaining. Tracks can be lengthened or shortened accordingly.

Cognitive & Behaviour     Thought bubbles and speech bubbles can be added into behaviour tracks to draw out the cognitive components of behaviour. Symbols and pictures can also be added to indicate the emotional states of youngsters.
